I ask myself the same thing, but due to permits and having a family-run business that depends on perfection and making sure every dog is safe while in our care, our boarding program isn’t up and running yet.
As an army of two, with the help of our family, we’ve been working long and hard to make sure everything is done the right way. We want to create a safe, calm, and high-quality environment for every dog that stays with us, and that takes time, care, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
As someone who has worked in the dog daycare industry at multiple facilities and volunteered at animal shelters, I take great pride in how I organize dog groups and manage play yards safely. Throughout my experience, I have worked with as many as 50 dogs at one time, and during those years I realized that too many dogs in one space can become overwhelming — not just for staff, but for the dogs themselves.
My goal is to create a calmer, safer, and more structured environment by having only 8 kennels with indoor/outdoor access that lead directly into a 2,500 square foot turf yard. Each kennel will include wall dividers to provide privacy and comfort for every dog.
Keeping the number of kennels low allows for smaller play groups, better group matching, and a more peaceful environment where dogs can comfortably coexist and socialize. I chose turf yards instead of dirt or natural ground surfaces so dogs can stay cleaner and avoid coming home covered in dirt, foxtails, mud, and other outdoor debris that can easily stick to your fluffy companion.
