If your dog is going to be off leash they must return to me immediately when called (two calls with a return limit of 10 seconds) this is required by the Marin County Open Space District.
If your dog’s recall isn’t quite there yet, don’t worry! We’re here to help. We’ll work closely with you and your pup to make sure they understand the importance of returning to you when called.
With patience, consistency, and the right training, your dog can master recall and enjoy off-leash freedom!!
We’ll focus on:
Clear cues: Teaching your dog what “come” means and associating it with positive outcomes like treats or playtime.
Consistency: Reinforcing the recall behavior regularly so your dog understands it’s important.
Gradual challenges: Introducing distractions in a controlled way to ensure your dog stays focused on your call, whether you're in a quiet park or a busy open space.
